3-3-7 TIGERS: Area stars have mixed bag in LSU’s season opener

There is plenty of Acadiana flavor to this year’s LSU football team.

The Tigers have plenty of representation from the 3-3-7 with a total of 15 players from the area listed on the roster for the 2022 season.

That includes four wide receivers in Kayshon Boutte (Westgate), Jack Bech (St. Thomas More), Malik Nabers (Southside) and Cowinn Helaire (Lafayette Christian Academy), a pair of quarterbacks in Tavion Faulk (Carencro) and Walker Howard (St. Thomas More), running back Corren Norman (Lafayette High), tight end Gabe Leonards (Notre Dame), two offensive lineman in Joshua Billedeaux (St. Thomas More) and Fitzgerald West (Lafayette Christian Academy), defensive lineman Princeton Malbrue (Carencro), linebacker Sloan Wright (St. Thomas More), defensive backs Sage Ryan (Lafayette Christian), Jordan Allen (Lafayette Christian) and Laterrance Welch (Acadiana).

2 receptions, 20 yards

Jack Bech
1 reception, 5 yards

Malik Nabers
5 receptions, 34 yards
2 punt returns, minus two yards, two lost fumbles
2 kick returns, 31 yards
