Welcome everyone to another edition of #3OT!
1st OT: Too Many Threes Cost Cajuns
Along with other aspects of the game, shooting too many threes put the Cajuns in a tight spot on Saturday against Arkansas-Little Rock. In the first half alone, they went 1-for-12 from the arc. This led to the Cajuns struggling to keep up with the Trojans late in the half. Sometimes you just need to attack the rim and take the easy points rather than miss a three-pointer and lose the rebound.
2nd OT: Stove Catches Fire
One of the biggest reasons why the Cajuns were in the position to rally back in the final minutes was Johnathan Stove. The sophomore guard showed a lot of aggression in the second half and scored 13 of his 18 points in that time frame. He has shown that he can be a solid player and could see an increase in his workload next season once Shawn Long departs the team. Tonight was a night where his skills were shown off.
3rd OT: Key Road Trip Coming Up
The next two weeks for the Cajuns they will head out on the road. The Cajuns have beaten all four of these teams before, so there’s no real reason as to why the Cajuns can’t do it again. But this will be a crucial road trip where they’ll need to win at least three of the four games to keep their position in the standings as we get closer to the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. So the Cajuns will need to get over the loss to Arkansas-Little Rock and focus on starting a new win streak.
