Cajuns

The Ragin Cajuns were able to win their first conference series of the year with an 8-3 win over Troy (10-8, 1-2 SBC).

The Trojans got on the board quickly with an RBI single by Peyton Fuller in the top of the first. The scoring continued with a sac fly from Hulsey later in the inning to put the Trojans up 2-0.

The Cajuns cut the lead in half in the top of the second with Derek Herrington hitting an RBI single. They then knotted things up with Steven Sensley hitting an RBI single of his own in the top of the third.

It was the fourth inning where the Cajuns started to bust things open with three runs and Alex Pinero led things off with a solo shot down the left field line.

The Trojans cut away at the Cajuns lead in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI double down the left field line.

But the Cajuns closed the door in the top of the eighth with an RBI single by Brian Mills. The Cajuns would get two more runs in the ninth to get the deciding win in the first conference series.

Nick Lee improved to 3-0 on the year, allowing three runs off of three hits, walking three and striking out two in five and a third innings of work. Dylan Moore got his fourth save of the season with two shutout innings, where he struck out five out of the six batters he faced on the afternoon.

The Cajuns (10-6, 2-1 SBC) travel up to Natchitoches to take on Northwestern State (7-6, 1-0 Southland) in a midweek matchup with first pitch scheduled for 6 pm.
