The Sun Belt football coaches sat down and looked at the conference and decided who would be the preseason favorite to win the Sun Belt Title. And the coaches selected the App State Mountaineers to take the whole thing.
The Mountaineers got five of 11 first place votes from the coaches in a release from the Sun Belt on Thursday. This is coming after winning their first ever FBS bowl game last season in the Camellia Bowl. A big reason why they are considered favorites is that they have 15 starters on both offense and defense returning.
On the Cajuns side of things, they were projected to finish fifth, just behind Georgia State and tied up with the Troy Trojans.
