The Fave 5: First College Football Weekend of 2016

Posted by alanmichael on September 6, 2016 in Featured, Latest News

There was so much good football this weekend I am already exhausted and can’t wait for the end of the season. Here are my Fave 5 things from the “greatest opening weekend in College Football history,” suckas!

5. Shane Buechele

16/26 for 280 yds and 2 touchdowns as a true freshman, Week 1 at Texas versus Notre Dame, on national T.V., in overtime! The son of former Pirate and Rangers infielder Steve Buechele was a miracle baby born after his dad had a vasectomy once he and his wife had their 4th child. Shane was a miracle for the Buechele’s and maybe eve more so for Texas.

Bobby Hill Hookem

4. The Boutteman

Josh Boutte’s hit on D’Cota Dixon was a great display of not stopping until you hear the whistle. I, just like Les Miles, believe Boutte probably didn’t see Dixon’s knee go down. He thought the play was live and was making a touchdown saving tackle. A great man once said yer innocent before yer proven guilty in this country and I stand by that.

3. Cajun Reeboks

The guys on the tractor at Cajun Field during the tailgate were dressed to the nines and came ready for some damn football getting people more hype than I ever could. Bag of Donuts was on fire playing some kick ass rock n’ roll, and everyone was hydrated. The game will quickly be forgotten but a good time was had by all before UL/Boise State.

2. Steve Spurrier

I don’t know if any of the games topped what the OBC did pregame in Gainesville with his speech and rifles towards the sky. The man is an all time showmen. It feels like when Carson retired. Sad.

steve spurrier thumbs up

1. James Conner

From a torn knee to cancer to the first game the next season, Pitt running back James Conner made one of the most emotional and epic comebacks in recent memory. Before his injury Conner was going to make a case versus Derrick Henry and Leonard Fournette last season, no doubt. He is a man among boys and even after beating cancer he still looked beastly and dominant Saturday against Villanova carrying defenders above his head as he marched to the endzone. The Terminator James Conner is my favorite college football player ever. That was straight up motivational on Saturday. Lightning fast big gold cat, kickin’ cancer’s ass! James Conner is #1 with a bullet!
