What Up Whit That? – A Retrospective from Behind the Glass

What Up Whit That? A Cody Chustz Edition!

  •      OK SO I’LL START HERE AND GET THIS JUNK OUT OF THE WAY… THE CUBS DIDN’T JUST LOSE LAST NIGHT, THEY WERE SHUTOUT 6-0 BY LOLLIPOP CURVE HIMSELF RICH HILL…. THE CUBS BATS HAVE GONE COLDER THAN MOONLIGHT ON A TOMBSTONE IN A GRAVEYARD FULL OF DRY ICE….. WHAT UP WHIT THAT???

— As a lifelong Cubs fan this particular topic is not what I would call ‘fun’ to discuss. Nevertheless, my Cubbies have found themselves trailing the Dogders in the NLCS: 2 games to 1.  I’m not ready to throw in the towel on this post-season by any means, but if the Cubs bats don’t heat up in a hurry this series will be over sooner rather than later.  All I can say about the Cubs non-existent offense right now is, ‘Just Keep Grinding’.  Yes the struggles at the plate are quite apparent as of late, but let’s not forget that this is baseball we are talking about here.  Baseball is a very fickle sport; and at any point the Cubs can find their big sticks again.  For my sake, and all Cubs fans nation wide, let’s hope that happens when game 4 of the NLCS cranks up tonight. And that’s….. WHAT UP WHIT THAT!

  •      THE VIKINGS AND EAGLES ARE SET TO SQUARE OFF THIS SUNDAY, AND I CAN REMEMBER A TIME NOT SO LONG AGO WHEN WE LAUGHED AT THE EAGLES FOR DRAFTING CARSON WENTZ AT THE TOP OF THEIR DRAFT; WHILE SIGNING SAM BRADFORD AS WELL… THEN WE LAUGHED A LIL MORE WHEN THE VIKINGS MADE THE TRADE FOR BRADFORD AFTER TEDDY 2 GLOVES WENT DOWN… WE DIDN’T EXPECT MUCH FROM WENTZ, THIS SEASON AT THE VERY LEAST, AND WE THOUGHT WE KNEW SAM BRADFORD WASN’T THAT GOOD… WELL THESE 2 QB’S ARE ABOUT TO FACE OFF IN A PREMIERE NFC MATCH-UP…. LOOKS LIKE THE JOKE IS ON US AFTER ALL…. WENTZ AND BRADFORD GETTING THE LAST LAUGH…. WHAT UP WHIT THAT????

       — Maybe I exaggerated a hair when I said that Wentz and Bradford are getting the last laugh; that doesn’t change the amount of egg I am having to clean off my face due to the better than expected play from both quarterbacks.  The Vikings are the last undefeated team left in the NFL and Sam Bradford seems to have found new life after his trade to Minnesota.  Bradford was always a serviceable QB for the Rams; he just could not avoid the injury bug which sidelined him for multiple games during the 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2015 seasons.  So call me pessimistic, but I don’t expect Bradford to stay in the lineup for all the Vikings remaining games.  Bradford may be laughing now, but he is far from the last laugh.  Wentz, on the other hand, has faced more adversity through the season so far than has Sam Bradford. Despite that, I believe that Carson Wentz will run into a proverbial brick wall in the near future.  Wentz jumped out to a fast start with the Eagles, but as teams gather and collect more film on the Eagles QB he will quickly see the game become much tougher.  The jury is still out on whether or not Carson Wentz is the real deal.  All I can predict is that we will know the answer to that question very soon.  And thats…. WHAT UP WHIT THAT!

  •     LOCAL ONE HERE TO FINISH UP… CBS SPORTS RELEASED ITS LIST OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL BOWL PROJECTIONS AFTER WEEK 7 OF THE SEASON… TIGER FANS PROBABLY NOTICED ONE BIG THING WITH THESE PROJECTIONS… LSU IS NO WHERE TO BE FOUND…. LSU ONLY NEEDS 2 MORE WINS TO GET BOWL ELIGIBLE, AND APPARENTLY CBS SPORTS GENIUSES DON’T THINK THE TIGERS HAVE 2 MORE WINS IN THEM…. UMMMMMM….. WHAT UP WHIT THAT????

        — I’ll be completely honest here.  I have not the slightest clue, or inkling of an idea, why CBS Sports does not believe LSU will get bowl eligible this season.  I understand that the Tigers have a gruesome 5 games left on the schedule, but they only need to win 2 out of the 5 to make it to a bowl game.  We can all agree safely that if LSU reaches 6 wins they will most definitely find themselves in a bowl game; the NCAA would not allow a major college brand like LSU to miss out on bowl season if at all possible.  My opinion on this topic is not the result of me being a ‘homer’ or LSU fan in general.  My thoughts here come from the pure talent that you and I both know lurks in that Tiger locker room before every LSU game this season.  The talent of the now Coach O led Tigers is undeniable; and mark my words – – – THE TIGERS WILL FIND THEMSELVES IN A BOWL GAME AT SEASONS END!!! And that’s…. WHAT UP WHIT THAT!
