The Fave 5

This week’s Fave 5 is all about the hype after the hype! What does that even mean? Check it out……

5. Dwayne Thomas

When Dwayne Thomas said LSU would dominate Alabama’s offense, it was thought to be crazy talk by some, especially coming from a guy who spends most of his time as the extra defensive back. Thomas proved to be the secret weapon Dave Aranda used all night to keep Jalen Hurts in a panic as he blitzed from the Nickel position nearly every play, racking up 9 tackles, 3 of those being for a loss. Dwayne Thomas was just one of many Tiger defenders who showed up big against Bama but he is the one who put himself out there and delivered.

4. Holding

It happens every play but to do it on purpose and get 3 flags on 1 play for defensive holding is genius. The 49ers intentionally held every Saints wideout at the end of the first half as the Saints tried to get a late touchdown. Chip Kelly may look like your dunk uncle, but that was a brilliant way to hold a team to a field goal.

3. Conor McGregor’s Upcoming Announcement

He fights Eddie Alvarez for the Lightweight belt this Saturday at Madison Square Garden, but even bigger than the card itself is McGregor’s recent tease of a gigantic upcoming announcement that not even the UFC game makers know about. McGregor said to not believe anything anyone says and to “just sit tight.” “Nobody knows. In reality, nobody knows. I’ll reveal all in time. I don’t know whether you can take time off with this life. I just stay working, stay creating history. Stay changing the game.” Let the speculation and more importantly, the hype for after the fight begin!

2. Dave Aranda

LSU’s defense played perfectly in this game and it was not just because their defense is every bit as good as Alabama’s but because their defensive coordinator Dave Aranda is a mad scientist. The game plan to attack the edge and keep Jalen Hurts bottled up worked like a charm. Even though LSU did not win, Aranda gave the blueprint for beating this Alabama team’s explosive offense. The only other things LSU needed to win were a couple holding calls and a real plan to score actual points on offense. Oh well. It was still an inspired effort.

1. Mark Ingram

If you fumble, you don’t play. If you run for 158 yards at 10.5 yards per carry you get picked up on all the fantasy waiver wires after stupid idiots who gave up on you dropped you to pick up Tim Hightower. Mark Ingram running effectively is the final piece New Orleans needs to morph into the Saints’ most complete offense ever.
