LSU Falls to Florida 16-10

Posted by clintdomingue on November 19, 2016 in Latest News

If there was any case for LSU to possibly hire Ed Orgeron as the head coach going forward, that may have been thrown out the window along with any chance of going to the Sugar Bowl on Saturday afternoon in a 16-10 loss to Florida.

LSU started out strong with a 12-play drive that ended with Derrius Guice running it in from one yard out in the first quarter.

Florida would respond with a methodical drive that ended with a 36-yard field goal from Pineiro to cut the lead to 7-3. LSU looked like they were going to extend the lead as they got the ball to the seven yard line but a Guice fumble resulted in zero points. The Tigers redzone issues wouldn’t stop there as a botched snap on a field goal by Josh Growden would wind up giving Florida the lead with a 98-yard pass from Austin Appleby to Cleveland.

LSU would tie things up in the fourth quarter with a chip shot field goal from Delahoussaye, but Florida would respond with a chip shot of their own to take a three-point lead with a methodical drive that took 7:45 off the clock. LSU continued to get in their own way after a fumble by Donte Jackson on the kickoff which led to another three points.

LSU would get the ball back with three minutes left on the clock and got to the one yard line on second down and be stopped twice by Florida’s front seven to put the game away.

LSU (6-4, 4-3 SEC) don’t have time to dwell on the loss before taking on Texas A&M on Thanksgiving night with kickoff set for 6:30 pm.
