LSU Survives Shootout with Texas A&M

Posted by clintdomingue on November 24, 2016 in Latest News

If you took the over on this game, your Thanksgiving ended on a high note with the LSU Tigers coming away with a win over Texas A&M behind a strong offensive performance from Danny Etling and Derrius Guice by the score of 54-39.

LSU struck first in the opening two minutes with the aforementioned Guice finding paydirt from 45-yards out. The Aggies responded later in the quarter with Trevor Knight connecting with Christian Kirk to tie things up.

The tie would not last long as Colby Delahoussaye would nail a chip shot to make it 10-7. He followed that up with another field goal to make it 13-7.

The Tigers would increase their lead late in the second quarter, this time through the air with Etlling connecting with Malachi Dupre to make it 20-7 heading into the locker room.

Texas A&M came out with a quick punch to start the second half with Daniel LaCamera hitting a 49-yard field goal just through the uprights to make it a ten point deficit. However, the Tigers would respond with a pair of TDs from Guice to make it 34-10.

The Aggies weren’t about to go away though as the Aggies would score on a 33-yard run to cut away at the Tigers lead. However, LSU would respond with a score early in the fourth quarter with a short run from DJ Chark to extend their lead.

The Aggies would throw another quick punch with Knight finding Kirk once again and after a two point conversion it was 41-25. The scoring would continue to be fast and furious with Etling connecting with Russell Gage in the corner of the endzone.

The Aggies would get one more touchdown from Knight to make it 47-33, but LSU would put the game away with another touchdown from Guice for two yards.

The Tigers will end their season at 7-4 and 6-3 in the SEC. They will now await their fate as to where they will play in a bowl game.
