After Monday’s preseason watch list from the Maxwell Club, it should come as no surprise that a pair of Tigers were named to the Nagurski Trophy Watch List on Thursday.
Much like the Bednarik Award, the Nagurski Trophy is awarded to the best defensive player in college football. The only difference is that this voted on by the Football Writers Association of America.
Linebacker Arden Key and defensive back were named to the list and were among twelve other players from the SEC.
Key had a good sophomore campaign, recording 11 sacks and 55 total tackles. Tolliver had a bit of a sophomore slump with 20 total tackles and one pass deflection, but he is expected to bounce back this season.
