Louisiana Survives Another Mid-Week Extra Innings Affair

Posted by clintdomingue on March 13, 2018 in Blogs, Latest News

It sure wasn’t how the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (7-9) planned it out on Tuesday evening, but they were able to survive another extra innings matchup in the midweek, taking down the Tulane Green Wave (8-9) inside Turchin Stadium by the score of 5-2.

The Cajuns got hot in the first with a leadoff single by Daniel Lahare followed up by Gavin Bourgeois being walked. After a sac bunt from Hunter Kasuls advanced the runners, Kennon Fontenot hit a grounder to Josh Bates and that allowed Lahare to reach home safely.

Luke Coker extended the Cajuns lead to 2-0 in the sixth when he hit an RBI single out to left field. However, the Green Wave responded in the bottom of the sixth when Kody Hoese hit a sac fly out to right field that allowed Jonathon Artigues to make it 2-1.

Tulane tied things up in the eighth when Hoese hit a two-out RBI single up the middle. The Cajuns responded though with a three-run 11th inning highlighted by a two-run double out to left center by Zach LaFleur.

Things got dicey though in the bottom frame when Dylan Moore hit back-to-back batters to load the bases. However, Louisiana’s defense ended the ballgame after Grant Matthews grounded into a double play.

Moore improved to 1-2 on the season allowing one hit and struck out two in one and two-thirds of an inning of work.

The Cajuns will return to action on Friday when they travel to Georgia Southern (7-9) in the first of a three-game conference series with first pitch set for 6:30 pm.
