Louisiana Shuts Out Little Rock Behind Schmidt Gem

Posted by clintdomingue on April 20, 2018 in Blogs, Latest News

It was a pitcher’s duel on Friday night with both teams racking up a total of six hits, but the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (21-18, 9-7 Sun Belt) were able to come away with the 1-0 win over Little Rock (20-16, 9-6 Sun Belt).

How It Happened

The Cajuns may have ended the night with three hits, but they got two of them in the second inning, with the second one resulting in an RBI double for Kole McKinnon.

Colten Schmidt improved to 5-0 with another eight inning outing, allowing two hits, walked one, and struck out six on the evening. Nick Lee got his third save allowing only one hit in the ninth.

Big Number: 2

While the two errors committed by Little Rock didn’t change the end result, the Trojans got lucky on Friday night, only having it be a 1-0 loss.

Player of the Game: Colten Schmidt

With no a lot of offense going on, it has to go to Colten Schmidt, who is quietly putting together a solid resume in 2018 with another eight inning outing to improve to 5-0.

Next Up: Game Two; First Pitch 6 pm
