LSU Remains Undefeated With Win Over Louisiana Tech

Posted by clintdomingue on September 23, 2018 in Blogs, Latest News

If anyone remembered what happened two weeks ago against Southeastern, many LSU (4-0, 1-0 SEC) fans wound up seeing a similar ballgame with the Tigers letting Louisiana Tech (2-1) back in the ballgame in the second half, but were able to slam the door shut to come away with a 38-21 win in front of a sold out crowd at Tiger Stadium.

LSU struck early and often with LSU getting on the board when Nick Brossette scored from one-yard out after Ja’Marr Chase stepped out of bounds on the previous play.

Late in the first quarter, Devin White seemingly had a scoop-and-score, but wound up steeping out of bounds at almost the same spot. It wasn’t anything to worry about though since Brossette started off the second quarter with another one-yard run into the endzone.

After a Cole Tracy field goal made it 17-0, Ed Paris picked off J’Mar Smith to set up a 28-yard touchdown run from Clyde Edwards-Helaire to make it 24-0 within 55 seconds of game time. The Bulldogs finally got on the board when Smith connected with Adrian Hardy from 20 yards out to make it 24-7 and it remained that way headed to halftime.

Once the second half started, the Bulldogs started to rise back from the dead, going on a 13-play drive that went 75 yards and was capped off by Smith completing a one-yard pass to Bobby Holly to make it 24-14. Louisiana Tech made it a three-point ballgame to start the fourth quarter with a seven-play drive capped off by a 42-yard pass to Hardy.

However, that was as close as the ballgame got with the Tigers scoring on the next two drives with a pair of touchdowns from Brossette and Helaire, respectively to put the game out of reach.

LSU will return to action on Saturday when they host the Ole Miss Rebels (3-1, 0-1 SEC) with kickoff set for 8:15 pm.
