Texas A&M Outlasts LSU in Seven-Overtime Thriller

Posted by clintdomingue on November 25, 2018 in Blogs, Latest News

If anything, the end of the regular season for college football ended in an unprecedented way with two SEC teams going to seven overtime periods. Perhaps it shouldn’t have gotten to that point, but it did and Texas A&M (8-4, 5-3 SEC) got the proverbial monkey off their back and got their first win over LSU (9-3, 5-3 SEC) in an absolute thriller.

It was a back and forth ballgame all evening and it felt like LSU was going to come away with their 10th win of the season after Michael Divinity pulled off a scoop-and-score and Foster Moreau pushed the Tigers ahead with a 14-yard touchdown pass from Joe Burrow to go up 31-24 with 6:41 left in regulation. However, the Aggies had more lives than cat on their final drive with an interception being waved off, followed by a 4th and long conversion to keep the drive alive. They followed that up with a 19-yard touchdown pass to Quartney Davis to tie things up as time expired.

What followed was an absolute war between the two teams that saw seven overtime periods with the Aggies coming away with the win after Kellen Mond found Davis once again on a 17-yard pass. They got a second chance on the two-point conversion after pass interference was called on Greedy Williams along with an unsportsmanlike conduct and capitalized on that with a completion to Kendrick Rogers to come out on top in an almost five-hour marathon by the score of 74-72.
