Celebrate National Pi Day in Lafayette

Posted by Tanya Ardoin on March 12, 2019 in Blogs

National Pi Day is March 14!

March 14 is Pi Day. Remember back in math class when you had to study pi? Pi the ratio of a circle’s circumference which is equal to 3.14 and March 14 is 3-14. You get it, right. So a group of math nerds decided to recognize this day as a celebration of the math concept, pi. Since pi sounds like pie, a bunch of people also have decided to eat more pie on this day.

My sister works for an engineering firm in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Engineers are obsessed with math. So needless to say, March 14 is a big day at her office. Everyone brings in a pie to share for lunch. She usually makes a fig sweet dough pie. Since she is living in Iowa, she loves wowing her co-workers with a Louisiana delicacy.

Pi Day or March 14 is also an interesting day because it has a connection with two famous mathematicians. March 14 is Albert Einstein’s birthday but also the same day that Astrophysicist Stephen Hawking passed away.

Ways to Celebrate Pi Day

Now my favorite reason to celebrate is pi day is the deals. I love pie, especially pizza pie. And thank goodness, there are lots of businesses that are celebrating Pi day by slashing prices.
