Big Fourth Inning Pushes Cajuns Past South Alabama

Posted by clintdomingue on April 13, 2019 in Blogs, Latest News

After Friday night’s implosion against South Alabama, the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns were the beneficiaries of some mistakes in the fourth inning and that helped them come away with an 8-4 win on Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened:

The Jaguars got things going in the top of the second when Dakota Dailey hit a two-out, three-run double to right field and was followed up by a Michael Sandle RBI single to quickly make it a 4-0 ballgame. However, Kole McKinnon responded with a sac fly to center field to score Tremaine Spears.

The Cajuns offense really got going in the fourth with a five-run inning that was capped off by a two-run ground-rule double by Hunter Kasuls. McKinnon came up big in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run single to left field to give them an 8-4 lead.

Big Number: 5

A big part of the Cajuns success on Saturday afternoon as because of the free passes that they wound up getting. The Jaguars pitchers hit five batters on the afternoon and two of those accounted for a pair of runs at the worst possible time.

Player of the Game: Kole McKinnon

While his statline isn’t that amazing, McKinnon was efficient everytime he approached the plate.Seriously, he racked up four RBIs on the afternoon including a two-run single in the fifth.

Next Up: Sunday vs South Alabama; First Pitch 1 PM
