Cajuns Rally Comes Up Short Against Troy

Posted by clintdomingue on May 23, 2019 in Featured

The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns season came to a disappointing end with a late rally coming up short on Thursday in a 10-7 loss to the Troy Trojans.

How It Happened:

The Cajuns came out the gates strong with a three-run third inning that was highlighted by an RBI single from Handsome Monica. The Trojans responded in the bottom of the fourth with a sac fly by Sadler Goodwin to score Drew Frederic.

Frederic made it a 3-2 ballgame in the fifth inning with an RBI double, but the Trojans offense didn’t catch fire until the sixth where they put five runs jumpstarted by a two-run home run to right field by Dalton Sinquefield.

Troy poured it on in the bottom of the seventh with three home runs to make it 10-3. The Cajuns tried to rally with a two-run jack from Todd Lott in the eighth, but the Cajuns offense could only muster up two more runs in the ninth and it all ended after Todd Lott hit a fly ball out to centerfield.

Big Number: 10

The Cajuns bats went cold on Thursday, only getting six hits and struck out a whopping ten times. Definitely not the way they wanted to go out to end the 2019 campaign.

Player of the Game: Drew Frederic

Frederic looked fantastic on Thursday morning with a pair of doubles and a sac fly helped get the Trojans over the top and advance in the Sun Belt Tournament.
