Former Florida TE Troupe Transitioning to Career in Media Well

Posted by clintdomingue on July 15, 2019 in Blogs, Featured, Latest News

HOOVER — The trend in the world of sports media over the last several years has seen the former players ply their trade in the sports talk realm. The best example of this trend in recent years is Tony Romo and Booger McFarland joining prominent broadcasts for CBS and ESPN respectively.

In the case of Ben Troupe, he’s made the transition over to radio almost seamlessly.

After NFL stops in Tampa Bay, Tennessee, and Oakland the former Florida Gator is back in his home state of Georgia being part of an afternoon drive show on ESPN Coastal. With the rise of the SEC Network, the media days world has changed since his time at the University of Florida in the early 2000s.

“I don’t how many days (SEC Media Days) was when I was a player, right now it’s four and pretty soon it will be a seven-day event.” Troupe said during his time with Raymond Parstch III on Radio Row. “The NFL Draft used to be two days and now it’s three days. I just think when you look at how big college football is and I have friends up north asking me ‘Do you guys ever turn it off?’ I’m like football? I hope not because that’s not something we do.”

When it comes to transitioning to the world of sports radio, he talked about how it’s humbled him.

“I’m enjoying this side of it and being blessed to represent your university and now to represent a network and it’s humbling to talk about some of the young guys. I’m just as excited, but I have to keep it under wraps.”

Listen to the full interview with Ben Troupe with a lot of discussion about the Gators quarterback Feleipe Franks, Dan Mullen, and more with Raymond Parstch III.
