LSU NOTEBOOK: Burrow, Edwards-Helaire Earn SEC Honors

LSU quarterback Joe Burrow and running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire After ending an eight-game losing streak against Alabama with a 46-41 win on Saturday, LSU had two players earn weekly honors from the Southeastern Conference on Monday. LSU quarterback Joe Burrow and running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire were named Co-Offensive Players of the Week. Burrow completed 31-of-39 passes for 393 yards and 3 touchdowns while rushing for 64 yards. Burrow’s 457 yard of total offense was the third highest total in LSU history, his 31 completions is also a career-best and he became the fourth player in program history to throw for 3,000 yards in a season. Edwards-Helaire rushed for 103 yards on 20 carries with 3 touchdowns while also catching 9 passes for 77 yards and a touchdown. Edwards-Helaire has now rushed for 100-plus yards in four of LSU’s five SEC games. No. 1 LSU (9-0, 5-0 SEC) will return to action on Saturday at Ole Miss (4-6, 2-4 SEC). Kickoff is at 6 p.m. TV Times Set The SEC announced on Monday the start times and TV broadcasts for the slate of games on November 23rd. LSU will host Arkansas on that Saturday and the game will kick off at 6 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN. After having a slew of 2:30 kickoffs, and even a couple of 11 a.m. games, LSU will have back-to-back games kicking off at 6 p.m. were named SEC Co-Offensive Players of the Week on Monday.

In Saturday’s win over the Crimson Tide, Burrow completed 31-of-39 passes for 393 yards and 3 touchdowns while rushing for 64 yards. Burrow’s 457 yard of total offense was the third highest total in LSU history, his 31 completions is also a career-best and he became the fourth player in program history to throw for 3,000 yards in a season.

For the season, the Heisman Memorial Trophy candidate has thrown for 3,198 yards with 33 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions. Burrow has also completed 78.93 percent of his passes and has rushed for 189 yards with 3 touchdowns as well.

Edwards-Helaire rushed for 103 yards on 20 carries with 3 touchdowns while also catching 9 passes for 77 yards and a touchdown. Edwards-Helaire has now rushed for 100-plus yards in four of LSU’s five SEC games. 

Edwards-Helaire leads the Tigers with 786 rushing yards, averaging 5.8 yards per carry while scoring 11 rushing touchdowns. Edwards-Helaire also has 28 receptions for 202 yards and one touchdown.

No. 1 LSU (9-0, 5-0 SEC) will return to action on Saturday at Ole Miss (4-6, 2-4 SEC). Kickoff is at 6 p.m.

TV Times Set

The SEC announced on Monday the start times and TV broadcasts for the slate of games on November 23rd. LSU will host Arkansas on that Saturday inside Tiger Stadium and the game will kick off at 6 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN.

After having a slew of 2:30 kickoffs, and even a couple of 11 a.m. games, LSU will have back-to-back games kicking off at 6 p.m.

The start time, and network schedule, for the November 30th slate of games (which includes LSU’s game against Texas A&M) will be released next Monday.
