BATON ROUGE — As No. 1 LSU continues to march to a possible national championship, several Tigers have been named as semifinalists for college football’s top honors.

Here is a look at who has been recognized so far for the Tigers.

Joe Burrow

The Heisman Trophy candidate continues to rack up honors as Burrow has been named one of 16 semifinalists for the 2019 Davey O’Brien Award, which is presented annually to the best college quarterback and is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious national quarterback award.

Burrow has also been named one of five finalists for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, and is one of 20 semifinalists for the Maxwell Award which is awarded to the Collegiate Player of the Year.

Burrow has thrown for 3,687 yards with 38 touchdowns to 6 interceptions while completing 78.59 percent of his passes. Burrow has been named Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week five times this year.

Ja’Marr Chase & Justin Jefferson

The LSU wide receiving duo have both been selected as two of the 12 semifinalists for the 2019 Biletnikoff Award which is presented annually to the outstanding receiver at any position in the Football Bowl Subdivision.

Chase, who already set the LSU single-season record for touchdown receptions with his 13th on Saturday against Ole Miss, leads the conference in receiving yards per game (124.4) and TDs (13).

Jefferson meanwhile currently leads the SEC in receptions per game (7.1) and he’s second in the league in TD receptions (11) and third in the conference in receiving yards per game (101.1).

Former LSU standout Josh Reed won the Biletnikoff Award in 2001.

Offensive Line

LSU’s offensive line has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the Joe Moore Award which is presented annually to the Most Outstanding Offensive Line Units in college football.

The other semifinalists are Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin.

LSU’s offensive line, anchored by junior center Lloyd Cushenberry and senior right guard Damien Lewis, has helped the Tigers average 47.50 points and 556.1 yards per game, while also averaging 7.6 yards per play.

Ed Orgeron

LSU’s head coach Ed Oregeron has been selected as one of 22 semifinalists for the 2019 George Munger Collegiate Coach of the Year award.

In his fourth season at the helm, Orgeron has guided LSU to a 10-0 overall record and the top spot in both major polls and the College Football Playoff rankings.
