BATON ROUGE — Marcus Spears narrated the Hype Video this week. It starts off by saying “We’ve got unfinished business. We’ve got a debt to collect. We’ve got a score to settle. There’s only one way to settle it.”

The undefeated SEC West Champions took the field and settled that debt in dominating fashion in front of 102,218 rowdy fans. The Tigers shutout the Aggies in the first half, taking a commanding 31-0 lead to the locker room. The Tigers continued to roll in the 2nd half to the delight of the crowd, crossing the century mark.

As it has done all season, this Tiger offense continued to set records. Early in the 3rd Quarter, Joe Burrow became the SEC single-season record holder for passing yards, a record that Kentucky QB Tim Couch held since 1998 with 4,275 yards. Later in the 3rd Quarter, Burrow tied the SEC single-season passing touchdowns record with his 44th touchdown pass, previously set by Drew Lock of Missouri in 2017. Kicker Cade York also became the first LSU player to make two 50+ yard kicks in a single game.

How It Happened:

The Tigers received the ball first and drove 75-yards down the field in 6 plays, capped off by a 5-yard rushing touchdown by Clyde Edwards-Helaire. LSU 7-0.

On LSU’s next possession, Justin Jefferson reeled in a 12-yard Joe Burrow pass for a touchdown. They drove 80-yards on 11 plays. LSU 14-0.

LSU’s third possession hit pay dirt on the third play when Ja’Marr Chase took a Joe Burrow pass 78-yards to the end-zone. LSU 21-0.

Ty Davis-Price capped off a 55-yard drive with a 4-yard rushing touchdown. LSU-28-0.

Texas A&M held LSU to a field goal on their next drive. Cade York hit it from 51-yards. LSU 31-0 and that score held until the half.

The teams traded punts to begin the second half. Grant Delpit intercepted Aggie QB Kellen Mond and set LSU up at the Texas A&M 40-yard line. Cade York hit his second 50-yard field attempt of the game. He is the first player in LSU history to hit 2 50-yard field goals in a single game. LSU 34-0.

Texas A&M got into scoring range on a 41-yard catch and run to the 21-yard line. The next play they got into the red zone for the first time this game. The Aggies finally find the end-zone. LSU 34-7.

Burrow answers when he found Chase in the end-zone. That touchdown pass tied the SEC single season touchdown record of 44, previously set by Drew Lock of Missouri in 2017. LSU 41-7.

The Tigers force the Aggies to punt on the next possession but the Aggies successfully try a fake and get a first down. This drive crosses over to the 4th quarter where Tiger penalties kept extending the drive to the Tiger 21. Patrick Queen came up with a huge sack pushing the Aggies back and forcing them to go for it on 4th down where Jacoby Stevens intercepted the pass in the end zone. Tiger D holds!

Miles Brennon enters the game and his Racy McMath for a 58-yard touchdown reception! LSU 48-7.

A great punt downed on the Aggie 1-yard line resulted in the Tiger D adding a safety! LSU 50 – 7.

Big Number: ZERO

That is the number of points Texas A&M was about to score in the first half. The LSU defense pitched a shutout while the offense cruised to a 31-0 halftime lead. The Tigers only allowed a single score the entire game.

Player of the Game: Joe Burrow

Joe Burrow came out and got LSU off to a red-hot start. The Tigers scored on their first 5 possessions on a night when records continued to fall. Burrow exited the game with 12 minutes to go in the 4th quarter to a standing ovation with the crowd chanting his name.

He had 23 completions on 31 attempts and no interceptions for 352 yards with 3 touchdowns. His longest pass was a 78-yard touchdown to Ja’Marr Chase.

Next Up: LSU (12-0) is the SEC West Champions and will take on the SEC East Champion Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship Game on December 7th at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA. Kickoff is set for 4pm.
