RAGIN’ CAJUNS GAMER: UL Fails to Overcome Early Deficit In Loss to Jackson State

In the final non-conference game of the regular season, the University of Louisiana women’s basketball team fell to 3-3 on the road after a 65-54 loss to Jackson State. 

How It Happened:

The Ragin’ Cajuns kept it close in the first quarter, but Jackson State pulled away in the second. 

UL trailed by only four points after the first 10 minutes. The Ragin’ Cajuns led 7-6 until Jackson State ended the first on a 5-0 run. 

Jackson State outscored UL 24-9 in the second quarter. They led 35-16 going into the halftime break. 

The Ragin’ Cajuns fought back in the third quarter with a run of their own. They outscored Jackson State 27-14 coming out of halftime. 

Jackson State’s lead was cut to just three points with under two minutes to play in the fourth quarter. UL trailed 57-54 but Jackson State closed the game out on an 8-0 run. 

UL dropped to 7-4 for the season after the road loss. 

Player of the Game: Dayzsha Rogan

Jackson State’s Dayzsha Rogan led the team with 23 points on 7-of-13 shooting. Rogan also recorded four rebounds and four assists in 35 minutes. 

Big Number: 1

UL only made one field goal in the second quarter. They were outscored by 15 points in the second and ultimately could not overcome the early deficit. 

Up Next: On the road vs. Georgia State, Thursday, Jan. 2; Tipoff scheduled for 5 p.m.
