Funeral arrangements announced for Carley McCord

Posted by Louis Prejean on January 3, 2020 in Blogs, Featured, Latest News

Funeral services have been arranged for Louisiana sports reporter Carley McCord.

McCord’s funeral will be on Saturday, Jan. 4. The funeral will be held at St. Jean Vianney Church in Baton Rouge, located on 16166 Harrells Ferry Road.

Visitation time is scheduled for 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. A funeral mass will follow the visitation time.

After the funeral, memorial services will be in the church parish hall.

McCord’s family asks that, instead of flowers, donations can be made to a memorial scholarship fund in honor of McCord.

She was among five passengers that died on Saturday in a plane crash in Lafayette. McCord was traveling to Atlanta, Georgia for the Peach Bowl.

McCord was born and raised in Baton Rouge. She graduated from Northwestern State University and Louisiana State University. McCord’s first job was as an in-house reporter for the Cleveland Browns.

She also competed in the Miss Louisiana pageant for four years and she was a runner-up in 2012 and 2013. McCord then worked as a sideline reporter for WDSU and Cox Sports Television. She was also a in-game host for the New Orleans Saints and the New Orleans Pelicans. McCord was also a weekly guest on RP3 and Company on 103.7 The Game.

McCord was 30 years old.
