The University of Louisiana freshman guard Mylik Wilson scored a career-high 30 points to complete the second largest comeback win under head coach Bob Marlin.
UL defeated App State 81-73 for a Monday night conference road win.
How It Happened:
The Ragin’ Cajuns and the Mountaineers traded field goals for the first 10 minutes of the first half.
UL led 20-17 with 11:41 left in the first half behind 50 percent shooting from the field.
App State rattled off a 14-0 run over the next four minutes to take a 34-21 lead. The Mountaineers hit eight 3-pointers with 7:48 remaining in the half.
The Ragin’ Cajuns responded with an 11-3 run as Dou Gueye sparked the UL offense with 10 points off the bench.
UL entered the halftime break trailing by seven points. The Mountaineers held the Ragin’ Cajuns to 39 points through the first 20 minutes.
Wilson scored 21 of his career-high 30 points in the second half to lead UL back from the halftime deficit.
The Ragin’ Cajuns took their first lead with a little under nine minutes remaining. It was their first lead since there was 15:47 left in the first half.
UL used one final 17-3 run to run away with the game and to take a 76-64 lead with under four minutes left in the game.
Wilson’s strong second half and the Ragin’ Cajuns late scoring run led the team to their second straight win as they improved to 7-9 on the season.

Wilson scored 21 of the team’s 42 second half points. The freshman guard kept the team afloat as the team trailed early in the game and his second half surge boosted UL to their second straight Sun Belt win.
