It’s now official. The former Tampa Bay quarterback is headed to the Crescent City.
Jameis Winston and the New Orleans Saints announced that they have agreed o terms on a one-year contract. The announcement of the deal was made by Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis.
Originally selected with the first overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers out of Florida State, Winston is coming off of a season that many would rather forget, throwing for 5,109 yards and 33 touchdowns but also threw 30 interceptions and becoming the only player in the history of the league to complete the feat.
During a two-game stretch in wins in Weeks 14 and 15 last year, Winston tossed for 456 and 458 yards, becoming the only player in NFL history to pass for 450 yards in consecutive contests.
Prior to being the first pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, Winston turned in a historic career at Florida State filled with numerous individual and team accolades including the Heisman Trophy as a freshman in 2013.
