Former LSU Tiger Edwards-Helaire Shines in NFL Debut

The Kansas City Chiefs picked up right where they left off on Thursday night, opening up the 2020 NFL season with a 34-20 victory over the Houston Texans thanks to an almost perfect balance of run and pass.

One of the big reasons why was the performance of Clyde Edwards-Helaire. The former LSU running back showed he was picked in the first round of this year’s draft with over 130 yards rushing and a third-quarter touchdown that looked too easy for the rookie. Edwards-Helaire became the first player with 100-plus rushing yards and a rushing TD in his NFL debut since Saquon Barkley did it back in 2018.

Heading into the season opener, the expectations were high for the Baton Rouge native and he may have exceeded those in week one and may have made several fantasy owners pretty happy for taking him early on.
