LSUE advances in Region 23 Tournament after no contest

EUNICE — Without even playing a game, the LSU Eunice men’s basketball team is moving to the second round of the Region 23 Tournament.

LSUE was scheduled to host Itawamba Community College has been declared a no contest after Itawamba was forced to withdraw from the Region 23 Tournament due to COVID-19 contact tracing protocols.

The Bengals automatically advance to the quarterfinals where it will host the winner of Thursday’s first-round game between Holmes and Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The Bengals are the No. 4-seed in the single elimination tournament after capturing the LCCAC regular season championship.

The quarterfinals will be played on Tuesday, April 6 at 6:00 p.m. inside the Acadian Center at LSUE.
