The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns wrapped up spring practice on Thursday night with the annual Vermilion & White Spring Game — which Team Vermilion won over Team White 13-11. Below are the stars from Thursday’s scrimmage at Cajun Field.
STARS OF THE SPRING GAME
OFFENSE
Chandler Fields
Fields started the game completing 5-of-5 passes on Team White’s first drive of the game. He finished the game 12-of-15 for 136 yards, including throwing a late 43-yard touchdown and the ensuing two-point conversion pass attempt.
Jacob Menard
The redshirt freshman wide receiver led all receivers as he pulled down four receptions for 79 yards, including the game-tying 43-yard touchdown for Team White with less than a minute to play.
Levi Lewis
The Ragin’ Cajuns record-setting quarterback completed 15-of-26 passes for 167 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Lewis also added 17 yards on five carries.
Chris Smith
The Ragin’ Cajuns projected starter at running back rushed for 61 yards on 14 carries, including a long of 23 yards. Smith also had 3 receptions for 31 yards.
Emani Bailey
The freshman from Denton, Texas had a solid spring game for Team White as he rushed for 46 yards on 13 carries, while also catching two passes for 17 yards.
DEFENSE
Kris Moncrief
The junior linebacker picked off Levi Lewis in the end zone, recorded four tackles and two tackles for a loss for Team White.
Blair Brooks
The redshirt senior safety led all players with 10 tackles, including 7 solo, and one tackle for a loss for Team Vermilion.
Mekhi Garner
The redshirt sophomore cornerback led all defensive players with four pass breakups and led Team White with 8 tackles.
Tyrone Lewis Jr.
The redshirt freshman safety led all players with 2.5 tackles for a loss, while also having 7 tackles for Team Vermilion.
Tayland Humphrey
The redshirt senior defensive lineman led all players with 1.5 sacks for Team White.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Ken Almendares
The redshirt sophomore made 2-of-3 field goals including the game-winner from 51 yards out for Team Vermilion.
