AJ Labas is leaving the LSU baseball program.
The Tigers pitcher has signed a free agent deal with the Minnesota Twins, and Labas will be assigned to a team in the Twins’ minor league organization. Labas graduated from LSU in May with a degree in sport adminstration.
In his four seasons with the Tigers, the right-hander made 33 career appearances (29 starts), posted a 11-6 overall record with a 4.56 ERA with 126 strikeouts in 165.2 innings.
Labas did not pitch during the 2019 season due to a shoulder injury.
Labas was named a 2018 Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball newspaper, and was voted to the regional All-Tournament team after defeating Gonzaga, limiting the Bulldogs to four runs on six hits in eight innings with eight strikeouts this season.
