Ragin’ Cajuns Track and Field alum and New Iberia native Morgann Leleux cleared 14 feet, 11 inches on her final attempt on Monday. Leleux advances to the finals in the women’s pole vault at the 2021 Summer Olympic Games.
The 2016 All-American, Leleux was one of 15 athletes who was confronted by a rain delay to advance to Thursday’s final which is set to take place at 5:20 a.m. CDT.
Leleux passed on her opening attempt at 13-11 ¼ before clearing 14-5 ¼ on her first attempt. She missed on her first two attempts at 14-11 before clearing the bar on her final attempt and joining American teammate Katie Nageotte in the finals.
Leleux is looking to be the first Ragin’ Cajun to medal since 1992 when Hollis Conway won a Bronze medal in Barcelona.
