After hours of disappointments, the LSU Tigers closed out National Signing Day by signing one of the nation’s best linebackers as five-star linebacker Harold Perkins out of Houston signed to play for first-year coach Brian Kelly.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound linebacker from Cy Park High School, who is ranked as one of the nation’s top prospects, was born in New Orleans but grew up in Houston after his family relocated there following Hurricane Katrina.

LSU also signed Waxahachie High School cornerback Jaelyn Davis-Robinson.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound cornerback, who is ranked a four-star prospect by Rivals, recorded 46 tackles and six tackles for a loss during his senior season.

The signings of Perkins and Davis-Robinson were bright spots on a day in which LSU lost out on other prospects.

Lake Charles College Prep running back Tre’Vonte Citizen (Miami), Westgate tight end Danny Lewis (Alabama) and Ponchatoula safety Jacoby Mathews (Texas A&M) were all in-state targets who chose to leave the state, and Texas wide receiver Caleb Douglas (Florida) opted not to sign with LSU.

Even with signing two players Wednesday, LSU still secured 27 players during the signing period. The Tigers have signed 15 high school players between December and February’s signing days, and added 12 more players through the NCAA Transfer Portal.
