As the temperatures have cooled on the Cajun Prairie, the LSU Eunice Men’s and Women’s Soccer teams have started to get hot.  The men secured their sixth straight victory on Tuesday with a 6-1 win over Ranger College at the Bengal Soccer Complex while the women blanked the Rangers 4-0.

LSU Eunice men (7-3), now ranked 18th in the most recent NJCAA polls, is riding now the second longest win streak in program history. The Bengals women (6-3-1) have shut out opponents in five of their last six matches.

The Bengals would waste little time getting on the scoreboard as Nicholas Morrow netted the first goal 12 minutes into the game. Alexandre Badji would follow up with a goal of his own in the 21st minute, combining with Ryan Jeanfreau in the box for the one-touch goal.

The defense would help produce the next two goals as a double team from Badji and Elie Bokota near midfield created a turnover.  Kei Nagakura accelerated past the back line and buried his first career goal at LSUE.  Ryan Jeanfreau, intercepted the ball scoring on an open net.

LSUE’s offense would outshoot Ranger 9-1 in the first half as the Bengals put up six shots on frame. After Ranger would get on the scoreboard a few minutes into the second half, the Bengals would add a pair of insurance goals late.  Tyler Bridgewater would score the final goal of the day. Jakob Morales would go the distance in net for the Bengals, collecting a save in the second half.

Meanwhile, in the women’s game, LSUE would get on the scoreboard in the 23rd minute as the Bengals used their speed along the right side.  Sadie Bourgeois streaked past her defender, sending a bouncing cross in the box.  Giovanna Do Amaral would flick it up and past the goalkeeper for the captain’s first goal in a Bengal uniform.

One of the two other LSUE captains would get in the mix just a few minutes later as Citlaly Santibanez would walk the ball in for a goal after a beautiful cross into the box by Lucia Lorenzo-Parga.  Santibanez would use a quick step to dodge a diving goalkeeper to stride into the open net.

The team would head into intermission with a celebration as Renee Junna put the Bengals up 3-0 in the final minute on a free kick.

Leigh Brophy would bury the chance into the upper 90, sending her teammates into a frenzy. In addition to her goal, Brophy was solid in the net as she secured the complete game shutout.  The South African grabbed three saves in each half.

LSU Eunice Women’s team continues its regular season-ending four-game homestand on Saturday with a 10:00 AM contest against Western Texas College.

As the LSU Eunice Men’s team will head into a pivotal game as well on Saturday against No. 12 Western Texas College.  The Bengals and Westerners will take to the field at 12:00PM.
