The McNeese softball program earned its third straight NCAA Regional berth on Sunday.

McNeese received the No. 3 seed in the Seattle Regional. No. 7 national seed Washington is the regional host-top seed and the two other teams are Minnesota and Northern Colorado.

No. 3 seed McNeese (44-14) will take on No. 2 seed Minnesota (37-17) on Friday. No. 1 seed Washington (38-12) will also take on No. 4 seed Northern Colorado (26-21) in the other game.

McNeese has already faced Washington this season and recorded a 3-2 win over the Huskies.

McNeese wrapped up yet another stellar season under coach James Landreaneau.

The Cowgirls went 44-14 overall, won both the Southland Conference regular season championship and SLC Tournament championship and Landreaneau eclipsed the 250 win mark.

McNeese has won the regular season title for eight times and the conference tournament nine times, including three straight twice (2016 to 2018 and 2021 to 2023).

McNeese has made an NCAA Regional nine previous times, with appearances in 1994, 2005, 2010, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021 and 2022.

McNeese had its best NCAA Regional performance in last year’s Evansville Regional. McNeese defeated Notre Dame 11-1 to open up play and then defeated the Fighting Irish in an elimination game 3-1.
