After starting the SEC slate 2-0, the LSU Tigers looked to continue their run against Texas A&M. Annesah Morrow and Angel Reese led the way, scoring 41 combined points as the Tigers picked up an 87-70 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

After a sloppy start for both teams, LSU and Texas A&M were able to settle in and have a 13-12 score at the first media timeout of the game. Then, LSU’s offense came alive with a 9-0 run to end the quarter with a 22-14 lead. Angel Reese led all scorers with 10 while the Tigers shot 8-17 from the floor in the first frame.

Texas A&M closed the gap slightly after a hot start to the quarter from LSU. The Aggies hit five of their last seven shots before the media while the Tigers only made one of their previous nine. With 3:51 to go, LSU held a 39-31 lead.

At the half, LSU led Texas A&M 44-37 by shooting 35% in the second quarter. Angel Reese and Aneesah Morrow end the first half with a pair of fouls each for the Tigers. Endyia Rogers led all scorers with 13 in the first half for Texas A&M.

At the third quarter media timeout, Kim Mulkey’s team led 55-45 after shooting 4-6 from the field to start the second half. Morrow, Reese, Hailey Van Lith, and Mikaylah Williams were all in double figures for the Tigers to this point in the game.

LSU really started to run away with the game after that media timeout, outscoring the Aggies 21-6 over a seven-minute span to take a 76-51 lead early in the fourth quarter.

With 4:44 remaining in the game, LSU led Texas A&M 80-58. The Tigers made 4-6 shots in the fourth quarter and Reese continued to rack up rebounds with 20 points, 17 rebounds, and six assists.

LSU closed the game out with their reserves as the Tigers picked up an 87-70 win over Texas A&M.

BIG NUMBER: 82

LSU’s starting five combined for 82 of the team’s 87 points, including 21 from Morrow and 20 from Reese.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Angel Reese

Reese had a strong game despite shooting 4-13 from the field. The star forward had 20 points, 18 rebounds, and seven assists to be a driving force in LSU’s key win over Texas A&M.

UP NEXT: LSU will head back on the road this weekend as they play Auburn this Sunday. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. and pregame will begin at 1:30 on Acadiana’s Classic Country Mustang 107.1
