Trey Quinn is getting another shot in the NFL.

The former Barbe High star and LSU wide receiver has been signed by the Detroit Lions. Quinn returns to the NFL after wrapping up his first season playing for the Michigan Panthers of the USFL.

Quinn was second on the Panthers this season in targets (57), receptions (37), receiving yards (438), yards after the catch (107) and receiving touchdowns (4).

Quinn was a star baseball and football player growing up in Lake Charles, including throwing a no-hitter at the 2008 Little League World Series. Quinn was a profilic reciever for the Bucanneers as he finished his high school career with 70 touchdowns and 6,566 receiving yards, making him the national all-time career leader in receiving yards.

Quinn signed with LSU and caught 23 passes for 276 yards in two seasons before he transferred to play at Southern Methodist University. After sitting out due to NCAA Transfer rules, Quinn would pull down 114 passes for 1,236 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Quinn was “Mr. Irrelevant” in the 2018 NFL Draft which is a distinction bestowed on the final selection of that year’s draft.

After suffering a high ankle sprain in the first game of the season, Quinn would miss the majority of his rookie season in Washington. He would get more playing time his second year as he hauled in 26 receptions for 198 yards and one touchdown.

After being cut by Washington the following preseason, the 6-foot, 200-pound Quinn would be signed by Jacksonville and would appear in only one game for the Jaguars before spending most of the season on the team’s practice squad.

Quinn was signed by the Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos in 2021 and 2022, but was cut by both teams during the preseason.

In his NFL career, Quinn has 35 receptions for 273 yards and two touchdowns.
