The LSU football signing class added another top prospect on Wednesday, as Acadiana High five-star Dominick McKinley signed with the Tigers. McKinley is a defensive tackle that ranked as the top player in the state of Louisiana as a senior at Acadiana.
McKinley had an excellent statistical season in 2023, as he racked up 71 tackles, 15 hurries, and 11 tackles for loss. That built on his junior season, where he totaled 86 tackles, 18 TFLs, and 10 sacks.
Head Coach Brian Kelly had high praise for the signing, stating “Adding Dominick to this class really tops it off for us. He’s the top player in the state of Louisiana and we are excited about him joining our program.”
McKinley’s Rams enjoyed a stellar 2023 season, and it was capped off with a trip to the Caesars Superdome to play in the Select Division I State Championship game. Acadiana fell to Catholic of Baton Rouge in the title game, but McKinley made his mark and made scouts around the country recognize his talents.
The signing of McKinley adds to an impressive tally in the state for LSU. They signed eight of the top 10 ranked players in Louisiana. In total, LSU added 27 players in December for the early signing period. The team also added six transfers via the transfer portal, including quarterback AJ Swann from Vanderbilt and defensive back Austin Ausberry from Auburn.
The Tigers will kick off the spring portion of their off-season next month, with the spring game scheduled for April 13th.
