The LSU Tigers men’s basketball team defeated the Kansas State Wildcats 75-65 on Thursday night in Manhattan, Kansas. The win moves LSU to 3-0 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The game began with a quick 7-2 Kansas State run to start. However, the Tigers responded and took the lead 9-7. Back and forth the teams traded buckets and the lead throughout the first 10 minutes of the contest.
Cam Carter knocked down a couple of threes and the Tigers began to stretch out their lead. It got to eight with a couple of Jordan Sears free throws at 32-24.
Carter continued to score and at one point got the LSU lead to 17 points. He paced the Tigers with 12 in the half and their lead was 12 as well, 43-31.
Both teams struggled offensively in the first 10 minutes of the second half. That allowed LSU to maintain their lead, and they were able to extend it to 16 at 56-40 with just over 10 minutes to play.
Carter continued to produce for the Tigers, and their defense ramped up down the stretch. Kansas State tried to cut into the lead and got it inside of single digits a couple of times, but never threatened the lead. Vyctorius Miller added 14 points off the bench, and the Tigers held on for a 76-65 win
BIG NUMBER: 18
The Tigers out rebounded the Wildcats by 18, 43-25. They were the more physical team throughout, and it showed on the glass.
PLAYER OF THE GAME: Cam Carter
Carter had 20 points to lead all scorers. He also tacked on four rebounds, and was the focal point offensively for LSU.
