The LSU Tigers may still have another game to prepare for, but that hasn’t stopped Brian Kelly and his staff from looking ahead to the future as the Bayou Bengals have added seven players via the transfer portal, four of them being starters in the SEC at their previous stops.
Let’s take a look at the newest Tigers:
Bauer Sharp
Sharp comes to LSU after spending his first two seasons at Southeastern Louisiana and then this season with Oklahoma. With the Sooners, Sharp finished with 324 yards on 42 catches and a pair of touchdowns. He is a 6’4″ junior from Dothan, Alabama.
Michael Van Buren
Van Buren spent his first season of college football with the Mississippi State Bulldogs, where he started as a quarterback. He finished the season with a completion percentage of 54.7%, 1,886 yards, 11 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while leading the Bulldogs to a 1-11 record.
Jack Pyburn
Pyburn is a junior edge rusher that will join Blake Baker’s defense from Florida, where he was an impact player for the Gators. The Jacksonville native finished the season with 60 tackles, 1 sack, a forced fumble, and an interception as well. At 6’3″3 265 lbs, Pyburn will look to have a big impact on the Tigers’ defensive front.
Barion Brown
Brown is one of the fastest receivers in the country and comes to LSU from Kentucky where he set the SEC record for kickoff return touchdowns with five. In three seasons, he has racked up 1,528 yards and 11 touchdowns as he will add speed and a deep threat to the Tigers’ offense.
Destyn Hill
Another skill player addition to the Tigers’ offense, Hill comes from Florida State as a very talented wideout. The New Orleans native recorded just six catches for 87 yards with the Seminoles in 2023 and will look to add a ton of depth for the Tigers with three years of eligibility remaining.
Ja’Keem Jackson
Jackson, recruited to Florida by current LSU defensive backs coach Corey Raymond, reunites with Raymond in Baton Rouge. Jackson was the third-best cornerback in the 2023 recruiting class and recorded 11 tackles and four passes defended during his two seasons in Gainesville.
Mansoor Delane
Delane was a three-year contributor at Virginia Tech at the cornerback position, but 2024 was no doubt his breakout campaign. While in Blacksburg, Delane finished with 146 total tackles, four forced fumbles, six interceptions, and 16 passes defensed.
Jimari Butler
Butler is another key addition to Baker’s defense, again on the defensive line. The junior lineman has 65 tackles, 7.5 sacks, three passes defended, and a forced fumble during his time at Nebraska. He will look to add depth at a position where LSU has lost key pieces.
Nic Anderson
Anderson is a sophomore wide recieevr from Katy, Texas that began his playing days at Oklahoma. In 2023, he had a breakout freshman campaign as he caught 38 passes for 798 yards and 10 touchdowns before missing all of this past season with a torn thigh muscle. He still has three years of eligibility and will add another dynamic playmaker to the room.
