The LSU Tigers’ men’s basketball team fell to the Texas A&M Aggies 66-52 on Saturday afternoon inside the PMAC. The loss finishes the regular season for LSU.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Texas A&M started off quickly, going on a 7-2 run to start the game and take an early lead. Wade Taylor IV became the all-time leading scorer in Aggie history in the first half, and he was a big factor early on.

LSU tried to chip away at the early deficit, and was able to do so at the free throw line. Eventually, they worked their way into a lead inside of eight minutes to play at 21-19. On his senior night, Jordan Sears was red-hot for the Tigers, and he helped extend the lead to 26-19. He scored 15 of the first 26 points for LSU. All-in-all, it was a 17-0 run during that stretch that gave them a seven-point lead.

The Aggies worked their way back into it towards the end of the half. At the intermission, LSU led, but only by two at 32-30.

The second half became a back-and-forth contest. A&M was the first to create a lead, as they made a run to take a 42-34 lead with inside of 13 minutes left. The Aggies continued to build the lead, workin on an 11-3 run after that, with 23-5 being the overall score in the second half at that point. A&M led 53-37 inside of eight minutes to play.

With the LSU offense struggling, that lead seemed insurmountable. The Tigers tried to create a run, but were mostly stagnant. A&M was able to hang on for the win.

BIG NUMBER: 1

Wade Taylor IV became the leading scorer in Aggie history on Saturday. He ended with 17 points on the night. He is at 1999 career points as well.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Henry Coleman III

Coleman ended with 11 points and 10 rebounds on the day, securing a double-double and helping the Aggies to the win.

UP NEXT: LSU heads to the SEC Tournament next week in Nashville, Tennessee. The Tigers will be the #15 seed.
