Jack Bech will get to the chance to honor his brother in the NFL.
The former St. Thomas More star and TCU wide receiver was selected by Las Vegas Raiders in Friday’s second round of the NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Bech was taken with the No. 58 overall pick.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Bech is coming off his best season in college football. He became only the fifth player in TCU history to record a 1,000-yard season as he hauled in 62 passes for 1,034 yards and nine touchdowns. Bech earned All-Big 12 Second Team honors and earned All-American honorable mention accolades.
Bech carried that momentum into the Reese’s Senior Bowl where he impressed scouts, coaches, and other players during practices in Mobile. He was voted as the Top Wide Receiver at the Practice Player-of-the-Week honors, and capped the week with catching the game-winning touchdown to be named the Senior Bowl MVP.
Bech dedicated his performance to his older brother Tiger Bech who died in the Bourbon Street terrorist attack on early New Year’s Day.
Before transferring to TCU in 2023, Bech played his first two seasons with the LSU Tigers.
Bech made an immediate impact as a freshman in 2021 when he caught a team-best 43 passes for 489 yards and three touchdowns. Bech saw his production dip in 2022 when he caught 16 receptions for 200 yards and one touchdown. He entered the NCAA Transfer Portal and landed at TCU.
Bech was a standout wide receiver at St. Thomas More, and he helped the Cougars win two state championships in football. He ended his high school career with 172 receptions for 3,236 yards and 37 touchdowns in 35 games. He also helped the Cougars’ boy’s basketball program win three state championships.
