Saints win streak snapped in OT loss to Tennessee

Posted by clintdomingue on November 8, 2015 in Latest News

Saints Titans

The Saints defense crumbled against the Tennessee Titans, snapping their three game win streak in overtime.

The Saints started out strong, forcing a three-and-out and marching down the field and getting on the board with Brees connecting with Josh Hill. After the Saints forced another three-and-out, Marcus Murphy fumbled the ball during the return, giving the Titans the ball with great field position. That led to Ryan Succop booting one from 51-yards out to cut away at the lead.

The Saints kept the Titans at bay on the next drive with Brees connecting with Brandin Cooks on 38-yard bomb. But the Titans kept themselves in it with one of the most incredible plays you’ll probably see all year. Mariota throws it to Delanie Walker, but is tipped by Jairus Byrd and Kenny Stills, and caught by Walker who runs it back for the score.

Brees furthered the Saints cause with a march down the field that ended with Drew Brees jumping over the line for the score.

Walker again proved to be an ultimate opportunist with another tipped pass landing in his hands to give the Titans 1st and goal and catching the touchdown pass to cut the lead down to four points before heading to the locker room.

Succop remained perfect in the second half with a chip shot to cut the deficit to one point.

Brees led the Saints on a slow and methodical drive that led to Michael Hoomanawanui to give the Saints a larger lead early in the fourth quarter. But Mariota got it tied up with a short pass to Justin Hunter for the score and connecting once again with Delanie Walker on the two point conversion.

The Titans and the Saints went into overtime and Mariota marched the Titans down the field capping the drive off with a pass to Anthony Fasano to give the Titans their first win under interim coach Mike Mularkey.

The Saints (4-5) will now travel on the road to take on the Washington Redskins (3-5) with kickoff set for 12:00 pm.
