Joe Burrow may have to miss the rest of the 2025 season.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Monday morning that the Cincinnati Bengals’ star quarterback will need toe surgery and be sidelined for at least three months.

During the second quarter of Sunday’s game against Jacksonville, the former LSU star quarterback was sacked by Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Arik Armstead for a five-yard loss. Burrow was taken to the medical tent and then the locker room on crutches.

It is another significant injury for Burrow.

Burrow suffered a torn ACL, MCL, and PCL during his rookie season in 2020, which limited him to 10 games. He dislocated his pinky finger in 2021 but still played all 16 games. Burrow suffered a MCL sprain in 2022 but played in all 16 games, and then tore his wrist ligament in 2023, limiting him to 10 games.

Burrow did play in all 17 games last season when he set career highs in completions (460), passing attempts (652), passing yards (4,918), and passing touchdowns (43). He led the league in passing yards and passing touchdowns.

In six seasons, Burrow has completed 68.5 percent of his passes for 19,190 yards, 142 touchdowns to 46 interceptions. He has been selected as a Pro Bowler twice (2022, 2024) and was named the NFL Comeback Player of the Year twice (2021, 2024).

At LSU, Burrow rewrote the program, Southeastern Conference, and NCAA record books in 2019 as he helped guide the Tigers to a 15-0 record and the program’s fourth national championship.

He threw for a SEC single-season record 5,671 yards with a FBS record 60 touchdowns to only six interceptions while completing 76.3 percent of his passes. Burrow also set the NCAA bowl record for eight touchdowns in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl win over Oklahoma, and the College Football Playoff Championship record with 521 yards against Clemson.
