The LSU women’s basketball team is headed to Greenville, North Carolina, but will have to wait a few days before playing in the Southeastern Conference Tournament.

Kim Mulkey’s team finished off the regular season with a 72-63 road win over Mississippi State on Sunday. With the win, LSU improved to 26-4 overall and 12-4 in SEC play. That mark in league play was good enough to earn the No. 4 seed in the SEC Tournament, which means that the Tigers also earned a double-bye and automatically advance to the quarterfinals.

LSU will not play inside Bon Secours Wellness Arena until Friday at 2:30 p.m. The Tigers will have to wait a few days to find out who they will be playing.

No. 13 Mississippi State takes on No. 12 Florida in Wednesday’s first round. The winner of that game will play No. 5 Oklahoma on Thursday. LSU will play the winner of that game on Friday.

LSU beat all three of those teams during the regular season, besting Oklahoma 91-72, Florida 89-60, and, of course, Mississippi State on Sunday.

If LSU wins that game, they could play top seed South Carolina in the SEC Tournament semifinals. LSU lost to South Carolina 79-72 during the regular season.

LSU’s SEC Tournament games can be heard live on Mustang 107.1 FM — Acadiana’s Classic Country.
