Gary Woodland leads the field with a score of -13 after round two of the Texas Children’s Houston Open at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston, Texas. He leads the field by three shots with 36 holes to play.
After a surprising 18 hole lead from Paul Waring, the Friday morning tee times would start to make their move. Min Woo Lee and Woodland both got off to hot starts, and Woodland was the first in the tournament to reach double digits under par when he got to -10. He continued that play down the stretch, getting to -13 with a round of 63. Lee, the defending champion of the event, would finish the day with a 63 as well to get to -9 overall.
Jason Day used his afternoon tee time to post a 63 as well, that also getting him to -9 overall. Nicolai Hojgaard, however, had the round of the day. He shot a 62 and got his two-round total to -10.
Waring, after his improbably first round lead, struggled on Friday. He dropped a shot overall, shooting 71 and finishing the day at -6 overall.
Some notable players missed the cut. Rickie Fowler, Brooks Koepka, Wyndham Clark, and Will Zalatoris were among the players who did not earn weekend tee times.
After two rounds, Woodland leads the way with Jackson Suber and Hojgaard tied for second. Day and Lee occupy the tie for fourth.
