4 Downs: LSU vs Ole Miss

Posted by clintdomingue on November 21, 2015 in Featured

4 Downs Ole Miss

Welcome everyone to another edition of #4Downs!

1st Down: DB-OOF

This Tigers secondary has regressed every week since the loss to Alabama. Chad Kelly was able to tear through LSU’s defense like a kid opening a present on Christmas morning throwing for 280 yards and two touchdowns.  But what really got the ball rolling for Ole Miss was a 57-yard pass play on the first play from scrimmage. Completely unacceptable.

2nd Down: Hammers to Thumbs

Everyone knows how it feels when you hit your thumb with a hammer. It hurts like hell. In the case of LSU, it hurt and they kept doing it. The Tigers racked up 13 penalties for 95 yards. What’s even more unacceptable is that nine of those were committed in the first half. The Tigers were unable to get out of the way of itself and it cost them big. From negating a 50-yard run by Fournette to pushing a good kick return back to their own eight, things just did not go LSU’s way.

3rd Down: Fournette back on track (sorta)

After two straight weeks of having games of less than 100 yards, Leonard Fournette added another 100-yard game to his resume. But the Fournette that looked to be the outright winner of the Heisman this year isn’t there. With Harris trying to open up the passing game to give him the opportunity to rack up numbers. But the teams are becoming aware of how he runs. The Fournette equation was solved by Alabama and now everyone is beginning to learn the answer as they’re looking at film from said game.

4th Down: Has Les Lost the Team?

All signs seem to point to just that. But according to postgame interviews with players, they’re still working with Miles to win. But based off of the play of the last three games, that statement couldn’t be further from the truth. Perhaps it’s time to let the Mad Hatter go. And according to fans, they’re ready for him to go after three straight losses.
