Tropical Storm Arthur heads toward Louisiana

Posted by Raymond Partsch III on June 17, 2026 in Blogs, Featured, Latest News, Local News, RP3's Blogs

Tropical Storm Arthur has formed along the Texas Gulf Coast, which makes it the first named storm of the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season.

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles states that Arthur has winds of 40 miles per hour and is moving Northeast at a rate of nine miles per hour, which means it will impact Louisiana.

Tropical Storm Arthur is expected to bring heavy rain and flooding to parts of Louisiana late Wednesday night through Thursday morning, with some areas seeing over five inches of rainfall.

Iberia Parish, St. Mary Parish, Vermilion Parish, and Cameron Parish are all under a Tropical Storm Warning and Coastal Flood Warning.

Those same parishes, including Evangeline, Lafayette, St. Martin, St. Landry, Acadia, Calcasieu, and Jefferson Davis, are under Wind Advisories and Flood Watch.

Please take caution when traveling on roadways, avoid flooded areas if possible, and don’t leave the house unless necessary.
