Sleepy Saints fall to Texans 24-6

Posted by clintdomingue on November 29, 2015 in Latest News

Saints Texans

Another week, another quarterback looking like an All-Pro player against the lethargic Saints defense.

In the first game of Dennis Allen’s tenure as defensive coordinator, it looked like things stayed the same on the way to a 24-6 loss.

After the Texans forced the Saints to punt, they marched down the field on a slow and methodical drive that ended with a 10 yard pass from Brian Hoyer to tight end Ryan Griffin to go up 7-0 early.

The Texans duplicated their success with another lengthy drive that ended with Hoyer finding Cecil Shorts III from three yards out.

But the Saints were able to avoid getting shutout with a pair of field goals by Kai Forbath in the second quarter to cut the Texans lead to eight points heading into the locker room.

But the Texans were able to close the window of opportunity with an 80-yard drive that was capped off by former LSU running back Alfred Blue pushing the line into the endzone from eight yards out.

The nail in the coffin was when Nick Novak put a 34-yarder through the uprights.

The Saints (4-7) will head to the Superdome to take on the Carolina Panthers (11-0) with kickoff set for 3:25 pm.
