Sean Payton Says He Plans to Finish His Career With the Saints

Sean Payton

After weeks of speculation, Sean Payton will remain with the team.

Payton announced at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon that he would be staying with the team and doesn’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon.

“This is where I plan on coaching. I don’t envision myself ever coaching for any other club,” he said. “I plan on finishing my career here.”

This comes after multiple reports that the organization would look to trade him for draft picks earlier in the week. But after a lengthy meeting between Payton and Saints general manager Mickey Loomis, it was determined that he would stay with the Saints.

Payton will be entering his 11th season with the Saints tied with Jim Mora for most wins in franchise history with 93. Payton has said that there are no talks currently about a contract extension, but he believes that will work itself out on its own.
