Former LSU ace Aaron Nola will be among baseball’s top minor league prospects taking part in Sunday’s Futures Game at the Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
Since being promoted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley (Pennslyvania), Nola is 3-0 with a 2.28 ERA. He has struck out 24 in 23.2 innings.
Before that, Nola was 7-3 with a 1.88 ERA in Double-A.
In addition to Nola, top prospects include American pitchers Lucas Giolito of Washington and Mark Appel of Houston and shortstop J.P Crawford of Philadelphia.
The World roster, managed by Hall of Famer Tony Perez, will consist of 13 Dominicans, six Venezuelans, three Puerto Ricans, and one representative each from Curacao, Nicaragua and Taiwan.
Among the top World propects are outfielder Yorman Rodriguez (Reds) and pitcher Jose Berrios (Twins).
