Alabama (9-0, 6-0 SEC) just keeps on rolling through the SEC. However, LSU (6-3, 3-2 SEC) showed that they can still hold their own against the best in the country defensively.
The offense was a different story and wound being a key point in the Tigers 24-10 loss to the Crimson Tide.
Alabama got out in front about halfway through the first quarter with a short pass to Irv Smith in the endzone to take the early 7-0 lead. Alabama got another big touchdown early in the second quarter, this time courtesy of Bo Scarbrough from nine yards out, making it 14-0. While that’s not insurmountable against most teams, it might as well have been on Saturday in Tuscaloosa.
LSU did get points on the board though with a 21-yard field goal from Connor Culp to make it 14-3 headed into the locker room.
Hurts wound up putting the final nail in the Tigers coffin late in the third quarter with a three-yard run into the endzone to make it 21-3. LSU’s offense did show some life on the next drive with a two-yard run from Darrel Williams to make it an 11-point game, but that wound up being the lone touchdown for the Tigers.
LSU will return to Death Valley on Saturday for an 11 am kickoff against the Arkansas Razorbacks (4-5, 1-4 SEC).
